Annie Morris

The British artist behind those sculptural towers of balancing boulders opens up on the tastes and treats that make a merry Morris Christmas...

Christmas cooking

We’re cooking turkey this year, with my mum’s amazing recipe for stuffing. It’s made with Jacobs Cream Crackers and a shocking amount of butter. We always make double the amount we need, so there’s loads left over for my husband Idris’s wraps after Christmas.

Decorating the table

My daughter Maude and I make a watercolour portrait of each person at the table, then she chooses a soft toy to hold up each picture. We decorate the table with lots of berries and beautiful bowls made by Ann Stokes, who was an incredible potter and a dear friend.

How I'll give back

This year, Idris and I have created a screen print for an amazing charity called Make a Wish.

I'll be listening to...

We are listening to Jamie Cullum’s new Christmas album, ‘The Pianoman at Christmas’. We love it and him!

I'll be watching…

We are watching the 'The Queen's Gambit' and Maude loved watching 'The Crown' so much that we had to go right back to the beginning and start Season One all over again!

I'll be wearing...

An old sweater my mother bought in the ’80’s from Edina Ronay. It is decorated with brightly coloured knitted animals that remind me of Calder drawings. It is so cosy, I often wear it around the studio.

My favourite festive tradition…

We normally go to LA for Christmas as my brother lives there, but this year we’ll be in London. Our usual tradition is hosting a turkey curry (which Idris cooks) Boxing Day party. It is always hectic but so much fun.

My Christmas treat…

Victoria Miro sends us the most incredible Christmas hampers and my friend Lulu sends us a huge Stilton every year, which is such a treat.

My Christmas smells like...

Pine needles, which scent the room as soon as we start decorating our Christmas tree.
