The Eagle Eye
Collagerie’s promise to cut away excess and deliver ‘the one thing over everything’ is a concept Alex Eagle embraces. Her own lifestyle store offers only hand-picked pieces, from clothing to art and objets. Now the tastemaker shares her summer ‘one-and-only’ list…

The one piece of swimwear
I’m in love with the black and white rash vest from our collab with @rashiworld. There’s something about the monochrome that feels so pared back and right. It has that performance edge but you’d never know it. Wear it by the pool, throw a shirt over it, take it into the evening. That ease is everything.
The one beauty essential
Nothing conjures summer like the feel of Melograno face and body oil. I’ve worn it for years – the oil, the soap, the gel, the whole ritual. So indulgent, so pretty, so Santa Maria Novella.
The one travel accessory
My leather lanyard is more than a great accessory; it’s genuinely practical – working as a hands-free pouch for your sunglasses, phone, keys etc… And it means you can actually find what you need at the bottom of your bag. A small but brilliant thing.
The one beach towel
Phoebe Philo for a beach towel is, admittedly, a bit extra! But it’s such fun.
The one suitcase
I’m devoted to the discipline of the carry-on. Rimowa cases are utilitarian in the best sense – a little industrial, completely timeless, and somehow still beautiful. My summer edit starts with this piece.
The one summer fragrance
Néroli Oranger smells delicious – elegant, sophisticated, a little bit sexy. It’s created by Matière Première (a gorgeous brand) and I’ve worn it every day for two years. I’m not stopping now!
The one summer dress
My go-to dress was designed to be easy to wear anywhere – understated, a little bit elegant, a little bit sexy. It’s the one you pick when you want to look like you haven’t tried too hard.
The one piece of jewellery
I stack up my favourite huggie earrings – two in each ear – and they look gorgeous in summer. They’re effortless enough to forget you’re wearing them, which is exactly how good jewellery should be.
The one packing essential
I have several Anya Hindmarch mini cases in different sizes, each one personalised with my children’s handwriting. I use them for my jewellery and important bits and bobs when I travel, and they always look beautiful on the bedside table in a hotel or villa – like bringing a little piece of home with you.
The one pair of sunglasses
Port Tanger shades are coolest. Their Dil frames riff on a classic, adding just enough edge to make everything feel a little sharper, a little more considered. I love them.
The one beach bag
Inès Bressand bags are so beautifully crafted, they almost feel too precious for the beach – and yet they go with absolutely everything. Dreamy, sophisticated and the kind of thing you reach for all summer long.
The one summer read
I’ve read Bonjour Tristesse many times. It’s the perfect little book to tuck into your beach bag or leave on the bedside table. Bittersweet and utterly transportive, it’s a summer staple.
The one pair of sandals
I wear my favourite Jimmy Choo sandals every summer, all summer, in three or four different colours. They’re comfortable in the way that elegant things rarely are – equally at home at the beach or at lunch.
The one sunscreen
Sunsolve is the best sunscreen I’ve found. It’s a mineral formula, with a great texture, and it actually works. Award-winning with good reason – this one earns its place in the bag.
