Finance & Operations Manager

    Role & Responsibilities

    We are ideally looking for a part-qualified or qualified by experience accountant with experience in a fast-paced e-commerce platform. You will need to be proactive and easy-going to fit into the dynamic team and be flexible in your approach to work. The candidate will work closely with the CFO and Founders of this dynamic and growing online platform with exposure to all areas of the finance function as well as the wider business functions. They will be involved in everything from day to day bookkeeping and operations through to preparation of the monthly management accounts pack as well as dealing with the auditors.

    • Strong experience with an online retailer essential (minimum 3 years)

    • Managing the month end close, balance sheet reconciliations, PAYE and VAT, accounts payable and receivables (preparation, review and payments)

    • Month end reporting and analysis

    • Review current processes and to suggest and implement improvements to increase efficiency and enhance the control environment.

    • Oversight of HR and all external supplier contracts

    • Support on any additional accounting related administration when required such as facilities, IT, and Resource Planning

    It’s important to note that the finance function is currently outsourced to an external bookkeeper so we would be looking for this to be brought in house with-in the first 3 months of candidate placement therefore experience of this would be a plus.

    The Person

    • Strong experience with an online retailer essential (minimum 3 years)

    • The ability to scale from low-level day-to-day book-keeping to high-level preparation of management accounts and analysis is essential

    • Strong balance sheet reconciliation skills

    • Dropship experience a plus

    • Experienced in preparation of PAYE and Quarterly VAT returns

    • Happy to fulfil general operations and ad-hoc tasks when required

    • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines

    • Strong analytical and conceptual skills

    • Strong excel skills

    • Familiarity with Xero accounting software an advantage

    • Rigidly structured and systematic way of working as well as excellent time management
